We're not learning, are we?
Just give Musk the praise he deserves, and let him go off and play with his toys.

Did you hear that slap this morning? That was me hitting myself in the face when I was reading what Mr. Musk had to say in the Tesla earnings call. The man is at the head of a declining business, launched a shitty new taxi-service and is trying to tickle some more money out of Telsa-investors pockets to fund his AI-company, xAI. And still he tries to convince people everything will go through some magical explosive growth.
At least he seemed to have come to his senses when it comes to launching a cheaper Tesla for the masses. You know that Model 2 that should’ve been here already, but was cancelled in favor of launching the Robotaxi? Yeah, that still isn’t coming. We’re getting a cheaper Model Y. Or at least a cheaper Tesla “that looks like a Model Y” according to Musk.

So yeah, probably a Model Y with half a battery and some other bits and pieces missing. A move that probably will not work as much as investors hope it does, because the Model Y still is an old vehicle. And chopping half the battery out of it doesn’t change that.
But that Robotaxi is going great! So great, it’s still in need of human oversight since the Model Y’s still like to swerve to the wrong side of the road. You might think that’s a minor issue, just like all the others that keep surfacing. But that is only when you believe Mr. Musk. He’s so optimistic all fault will be fixed shortly, that he’s already planning an expansion beyond the dick-shaped service area in Austin, Texas.
States like Florida and California should be seeing the sensor loaden Tesla’s driving around pretty soon. But probably not, because, you know, Musk relationships with politicians all over the US isn’t that great. Mostly because that DOGE-thingy. Getting Robotaxi on the road in other states probably faces some hard scrutiny.
But still, Musk thinks half the US will have access to a Robotaxi before the end of the year. I’m too tired to go into this one. I’m sorry.
I get it. I get Musk. He’s just plain bored of doing stuff with Tesla. Building a car company that needs to focus on volume models is not fun at all. There is no room for playing with flamethrowers anymore, or selling your own tequila because you’re thirsty. It’s about numbers in excelsheets.
He’s at the helm of a company he helped build, and did a great job doing so. But it’s a company he’s not invested in anymore, but is using to fund the stuff he does like to do, like play with robots and AI-chatbots that make cool jokes and funny images.
But Musk seems to keep getting away with fooling people with his intentions to make Tesla great again, that are probably not there anymore. And although we’re not taking the bait as much as we used to, the above is still being seen as at least somewhat of a plan to steer Tesla away from the cliff.
The fact is also that Musk is afraid to lose everything. In fact, he’s very open and clear about that. But fear is never a good mentor.
So maybe it’s about time to give Musk the praise he deserves, and let him go off and play with his toys without hassling him about earnings every quarter. I bet you we’ll be getting some great products like Starlink, and more shit like tunnels pretty quickly.

Place your bets: will Porsche survive this decade? It’s taking hits left and right and eliminating almost 2.000 jobs. It’s running out of gas powered cars to sell and the electric new ones aren’t doing that well, and the brand is expecting a decline in sales in China as competition is getting stiffer and stiffer. Also tariffs are hitting hard.
Will Aston Martin be the only manufacturer willing to put CarPlay Ultra in their cars? BMW officially joined the ranks of the naysayers. Which is okay by me. I like the software BMW has developed for their cars. I almost never even use regular CarPlay in cars of the brand.
Max Verstappen is still at Red Bull and Toto Wolff is giving up his chase for the best driver on the grid. He’s settling for Russell and Antonelli for 2026, saying having those two on the team next year “is an absolute priority”.
Mercedes is making haste! It’s claiming to introduce a production ready solid state battery in a production ready car around the end of this decade. Which probably means it’ll take about a year or two before we can actually buy the damned thing. But don’t expect it to be in a car for the masses. Maybe a Maybach? Nobody said ‘production ready’ means cheap or scalable production…
